Job summary

Confidential is seeking an experienced civil/structural drafter to prepare detailed drawings and 3D models for industrial oil & gas projects.

You will coordinate with multiple disciplines, review site data and ensure constructible, code-compliant drawings for fabrication and construction.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in EPC environments, proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modelling tools, and hands-on experience with brownfield modifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings based on approved calculations, design inputs, specifications, layouts and vendor information.
• Develop GA drawings, foundation drawings, structural steel drawings, concrete and reinforcement drawings, sections, details, fabrication/shop drawings and construction drawings.
• Prepare and update 2D CAD drawings and 3D structural models using relevant engineering software.
• Develop structural details for foundations, supports, frames, platforms, pipe racks, pipe supports and miscellaneous steel structures.
• Interpret and incorporate information from P&IDs, layouts, plot plans and vendor drawings.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines to identify and resolve clashes and interface issues.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews.
• Clarify drawings with site teams and resolve RFIs and construction-related issues.
• Review site survey information and existing drawings to incorporate verified site conditions.
• Prepare drawings in accordance with CAD/drafting standards and client requirements.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated and constructible for fabrication.
• Self-check and verify drawings before submission and incorporate comments from teams.
• Support preparation of MTO/BOQ and material take-offs from drawings and models.
• Maintain drawing revisions and design records as per document control requirements.
• Support construction activities by resolving field modifications and updating as-built documentation.

Job Purpose

Responsible for preparing detailed civil and structural engineering drawings and 3D models for industrial and oil & gas projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, engineering requirements, applicable codes and standards, and coordination with other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings based on approved engineering calculations, design inputs, specifications, layouts and vendor information.
• Develop GA drawings, foundation drawings, structural steel drawings, concrete and reinforcement drawings, sections, details, fabrication/shop drawings and construction drawings.
• Prepare and update 2D CAD drawings and 3D structural models using relevant engineering software.
• Develop structural details for equipment foundations/supports, structural frames, platforms, pipe racks, pipe supports, shelters, canopies, stairs, ladders, handrails and miscellaneous steel structures.
• Interpret and incorporate information from P&IDs, equipment layouts, plot plans, piping layouts, vendor drawings, specifications and other discipline drawings.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation and HVAC disciplines to identify and resolve clashes and interface issues.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate with site/construction teams to clarify drawings and resolve technical queries, RFIs and construction-related issues.
• Review site survey information, existing drawings and as-built records and incorporate verified existing/site conditions, particularly for brownfield and modification projects.
• Prepare drawings in accordance with project CAD/drafting standards, document control procedures, client requirements and applicable international codes and standards.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, dimensionally correct, coordinated, constructible and suitable for construction/fabrication.
• Perform self-checking and drawing verification before submission and incorporate comments from Engineering, Client, Consultant and Construction teams.
• Support preparation of MTO/BOQ and material take-offs from drawings and 3D models.
• Prepare and update IFC/AFC, construction, fabrication/shop and as-built drawings as required.
• Maintain proper drawing revisions, mark-ups and design records in accordance with project document control requirements.
• Support construction activities by resolving site queries, drawing discrepancies and field modifications, and incorporate approved changes into as-built documentation.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of civil and structural drafting and detailing for EPC projects.
• Good understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel detailing, foundations, structural frames, equipment supports and miscellaneous steel.
• Good knowledge of construction, fabrication, erection and installation requirements and constructability.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations and design information and convert them into detailed construction/fabrication drawings.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Experience with Tekla Structures, Revit, Smart 3D, PDMS/E3D, Navisworks, SketchUp or similar 3D modelling software is desirable.
• Ability to work with 3D models and identify/resolve interdisciplinary clashes.
• Familiarity with MTO/BOQ preparation and quantity extraction.
• Knowledge of relevant international codes, standards, project specifications and client drafting requirements.
• Good understanding of drawing numbering, revision control and document management.
• Knowledge of brownfield modification, site survey and as-built requirements will be an advantage.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma or bachelors degree in civil engineering.
• Typically, 5–10 years of relevant experience in civil/structural drafting and detailing.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Power, Offshore/Onshore or industrial EPC projects is preferred.
• Experience with an EPC Contractor, Engineering Consultant and/or major oil & gas client is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing IFC/AFC, construction, fabrication/shop and as-built drawings.
• Experience in brownfield projects, site modifications and existing facility upgrades will be an advantage.
• Experience coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, Vendors, Construction and Subcontractors is preferred.
