Job summary

WSP is seeking a Civil Inspector for the SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The role requires overseeing civil construction, ensuring adherence to drawings, specs, and quality standards, and supporting the QA/QC team on site.

Ideal candidates have 8-12 years of civil inspection experience, knowledge of concrete and marine works, and familiarity with ACI/ASTM/BS codes. UAE experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate with site teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8-12 years of experience in civil inspection for construction/infrastructure projects.
• Experience in SWRO desalination or large water projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of concrete works, structural inspection, and marine construction.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, BS).
• Middle East experience, preferably UAE.
• Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection protocols, and documentation.
• Certification in quality inspection or QA/QC preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with site teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works (foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks, marine works).
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Monitor workmanship and materials for quality requirements.
• Verify alignment, levels, and structural integrity.
• Witness and record tests (concrete pouring, compaction, material testing).
• Identify NCRs and ensure corrective actions.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors, and site engineers.
• Maintain inspection records and documentation.
• Ensure safe work practices per HSE policies.
• Review method statements and ITPs prior to execution.
• Support handover inspections and project close-out.

The Civil Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting all civil construction activities for the SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The role ensures that all site works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Civil Inspector will support the QA/QC team and work closely with contractors and engineers to maintain compliance and high construction standards throughout the project lifecycle.

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works including foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks, and marine works (intake/outfall).
• Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
• Verify alignment, levels, dimensions, and structural integrity of works.
• Witness and record tests such as concrete pouring, compaction, and material testing.
• Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors, and site engineers.
• Maintain inspection records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safe work practices on site.
• Review method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs) prior to execution.
• Support handover inspections and project close-out documentation.
• Assist in resolving site issues related to civil construction.
