Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Fujairah, UAE is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to monitor and inspect civil works for a SWRO desalination project.

You will ensure works follow approved drawings, specs, and safety requirements, while supporting QA/QC and coordinating with contractors and engineers. The role requires 8–12 years in civil inspection, with knowledge of concrete works, marine construction, and international standards (ACI/ASTM/BS).

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8–12 years in civil inspection for construction or infrastructure.
• Experience in SWRO desalination or large water projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of concrete works and marine construction.
• Familiarity with international codes (ACI/ASTM/BS).
• Experience in Middle East/UAE is beneficial.
• QA/QC procedures and documentation understanding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works (foundations, structures, pipelines, tanks, marine works).
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and project standards.
• Monitor workmanship and materials for quality adherence.
• Verify alignment, levels, and structural integrity.
• Witness and record tests (concrete pouring, compaction, material testing).
• Identify NCRs and ensure corrective actions.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, contractors, and site engineers.
• Maintain inspection records and project documentation.
• Ensure HSE compliance on site.
• Review method statements and ITPs before execution.
• Support handover inspections and close-out documentation.
• Resolve site issues related to civil construction.

Job Description

The Civil Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting all civil construction activities for the SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The role ensures that all site works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Civil Inspector will support the QA/QC team and work closely with contractors and engineers to maintain compliance and high construction standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works including foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks, and marine works (intake/outfall).
• Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
• Verify alignment, levels, dimensions, and structural integrity of works.
• Witness and record tests such as concrete pouring, compaction, and material testing.
• Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors, and site engineers.
• Maintain inspection records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safe work practices on site.
• Review method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs) prior to execution.
• Support handover inspections and project close-out documentation.
• Assist in resolving site issues related to civil construction.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 8-12 years of experience in civil inspection works for construction or infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience in SWRO desalination or large water treatment projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of concrete works, structural inspection, and marine construction.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, BS).
• Experience working in the Middle East, preferably UAE.
• Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection protocols, and documentation.
• Certification in quality inspection or QA/QC (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with site teams.
