Job summary

WSP is seeking a Civil Inspector to monitor and inspect civil construction activities for a SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. You will ensure works align with drawings, specs, and safety standards, supporting QA/QC and coordinating with contractors and engineers.

The role requires 8–12 years in civil inspection, with strong knowledge of concrete, marine construction, and relevant codes. Middle East experience is preferred; QA/QC certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in civil inspection for construction or infra projects.
• SWRO desalination or large water-treatment project experience preferred.
• Knowledge of concrete works, structural inspection, and marine construction.
• Familiarity with ACI, ASTM, BS codes.
• Experience in the Middle East, preferably UAE.
• QA/QC procedures, inspection protocols, and documentation are understood.
• QA/QC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works per drawings and specs.
• Verify alignment, levels, dimensions, and structural integrity.
• Witness tests like concrete pouring and material testing.
• Identify NCRs and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Maintain inspection records and QA/QC documentation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors, and site teams.
• Support handover inspections and project close-out activities.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies on site.

Job description

The Civil Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting all civil construction activities for the SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The role ensures that all site works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Civil Inspector will support the QA/QC team and work closely with contractors and engineers to maintain compliance and high construction standards throughout the project lifecycle.

• Conduct routine site inspections of civil works including foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks, and marine works (intake/outfall).
• Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
• Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
• Verify alignment, levels, dimensions, and structural integrity of works.
• Witness and record tests such as concrete pouring, compaction, and material testing.
• Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors, and site engineers.
• Maintain inspection records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safe work practices on site.
• Review method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs) prior to execution.
• Support handover inspections and project close-out documentation.
• Assist in resolving site issues related to civil construction.

Skills

• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in civil inspection works for construction or infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience in SWRO desalination or large water treatment projects is preferred.
