Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has appointed GOPA Tech to deliver consultancy services for the expansion of its transmission and distribution network across the Northern Emirates, UAE. The scope includes 132/33/11 kV and 33/11 kV substations, together with associated 132 kV and 33 kV cable works. To support project execution, GOPA Tech is recruiting for multiple positions across engineering, design, and project management functions.

As Resident Civil Engineer – Cable or Assistant Resident Civil Engineer – Cable, you will support the delivery of critical power transmission and distribution works by overseeing civil activities related to cable installations and associated infrastructure.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure programme in the Northern Emirates, helping ensure that civil cable works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.

What you will do

• Supervise and monitor all civil works related to cable laying, trenching, ducting, and associated infrastructure for power sector projects.
• Ensure that all activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals for civil cable works.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and report to the Project Manager.
• Assist in risk assessments, mitigation planning, and the implementation of sound engineering practices.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and support the timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• For the Resident Civil Engineer role: minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 5 years on similar projects.
• For the Assistant Resident Civil Engineer role: minimum 8 years of experience, including at least 4 years on similar projects.
• Proven experience in civil works for power projects, with a focus on cable laying.
• Demonstrated track record in consultancy or supervision roles within the power sector.
• Solid knowledge of international standards and local regulations applicable to civil and cable works.
• Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Professional certification or membership in relevant engineering bodies would be an advantage.
