Job summary

WSP Middle East is seeking a dynamic Assistant Resident Engineer Electrical to support overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects within the ADDC or AADC domain in the UAE. You will ensure projects are executed to specification, on time, and within budget, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

You will assist the Resident Engineer, review submissions, monitor site progress, coordinate with teams, and ensure compliance with local regulations and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Proven experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer (Electrical) or related role on large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, construction methodologies, and site supervision.
• Experience reviewing submittals, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring QA/QC.
• Proficiency in engineering and project management software; ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in overseeing electrical activities across UAE projects.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and docs for compliance.

WSP Middle East is seeking a dynamic Assistant Resident Engineer Electrical will be responsible to support on overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects within the ADDC or AADC domain. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are executed according to specifications, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in overseeing and coordinating electrical engineering activities across multiple project types within the UAE.
• Assist in reviewing and resolving technical issues on site, contributing to the development of practical and efficient engineering solutions.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and project documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, QA procedures, and applicable standards.
• Coordinate and supervise site inspection activities, monitor construction progress, and provide guidance to site supervision staff under the direction of the Resident Engineer.
• Ensure that Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements are implemented and adhered to in all site activities in accordance with company policies and project specifications.
• Support effective resource planning and project delivery by coordinating with project teams and Complementary Resource Centers (CRCs), facilitating communication, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve project targets and quality objectives.
• Monitor contractor performance and workmanship, ensuring that electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, local authority regulations, and industry best practices.
• Assist in the preparation of progress reports, technical assessments, site instructions, and other project-related documentation required by the Resident Engineer and project stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, authorities, and internal stakeholders, providing technical input and follow-up on agreed actions.
• Support project close-out activities, including testing and commissioning reviews, snagging inspections, and handover documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. A Master's Degree is an advantage.
• Proven experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer (Electrical), Electrical Engineer, or Site Electrical Engineer on large infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, construction methodologies, and site supervision practices.
• Experience in monitoring contractor performance, reviewing technical submittals, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Proficiency in engineering and project management software and related tools.
• Dynamic and proactive approach with the ability to identify innovative solutions and improve work processes without compromising quality or project requirements.
• Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good knowledge of UAE local authority requirements, as well as relevant international construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
