Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred (MBA or MSc).
  • Significant senior technology leadership experience, ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • Proven track record leading enterprise-scale digital transformation and technology modernization.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, TOGAF, ITIL, PMP, AWS or Microsoft Azure are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional candidates from other regulated industries may be considered with strong leadership and transformation credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise technology and digital transformation strategy.
  • Partner with executives to define technology roadmaps, investments and transformation agenda.
  • Oversee governance, KPIs and delivery standards across Agile, DevOps and PM.
  • Lead AI adoption, automation and data-driven decision-making initiatives.
  • Manage cybersecurity, risk, compliance and business continuity programs.
  • Oversee ERP, CRM, HRMS and core policy administration platforms.

Job description

About the Role:

The Chief Information Officer will provide strategic leadership across technology, digital transformation, data, cybersecurity and enterprise applications. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering a technology strategy that supports the company's commercial objectives, operational resilience, regulatory obligations and customer experience.

Working closely with executive management, the CIO will modernise the organisation's technology environment, introduce artificial intelligence and automation, strengthen information security and build scalable digital platforms. The successful candidate will be a visionary technology leader capable of translating emerging technologies into measurable business value.

The preferred candidate will be a forward‑thinking technology executive with the ability to transform the organisation through AI adoption, automation, digitalisation and data‑driven decision‑making. Insurance, takaful, banking or financial‑services experience is preferred, although outstanding candidates from other regulated or complex industries will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
Technology Strategy and Executive Leadership
  • Develop and execute the company's enterprise technology and digital transformation strategy in alignment with its business objectives.
  • Partner with executive management to define the technology roadmap, investment priorities and transformation agenda.
  • Establish clear governance frameworks, performance measures and KPIs to demonstrate technology's contribution to business growth.
Digital Transformation, AI and Innovation
  • Lead enterprise‑wide digital transformation initiatives across customer, operational and corporate functions.
  • Introduce emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning and intelligent automation.
  • Identify opportunities to redesign and automate business processes, improving efficiency, productivity and service delivery.
Technology Operations and Enterprise Architecture
  • Oversee technology operations, infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture and systems integration.
  • Lead the implementation, modernisation and continuous improvement of core insurance systems and digital platforms.
  • Ensure technology services are reliable, scalable and capable of supporting the organisation's future growth.
Cybersecurity, Governance and Operational Resilience
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity, information security and cyber‑resilience strategies aligned with recognised standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, IT governance frameworks and internal risk‑management policies.
  • Oversee business continuity, disaster recovery, technology risk and incident‑response arrangements.
Data, Analytics and Enterprise Applications
  • Champion data governance, business intelligence, predictive analytics and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Oversee enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, HRMS, policy administration and customer‑facing platforms.
  • Develop technologies that improve customer experience, employee productivity and management information.
Commercial, Vendor and People Leadership
  • Manage technology budgets, investment cases, strategic partnerships and vendor relationships.
  • Build, mentor and lead a high‑performing technology team while creating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Establish effective delivery standards across Agile, DevOps, project management and change‑management activities.
Technical Expertise & Skills:
  • Enterprise AI strategy, Generative AI, intelligent automation, and AI governance.
  • Digital transformation and organisational change management.
  • Core insurance platforms and policy administration systems.
  • Cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Cybersecurity, information security, and cyber resilience.
  • Enterprise architecture and systems integration.
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and workflow automation.
  • Data analytics, business intelligence, data governance, and predictive analytics.
  • ERP, CRM, HRMS, and enterprise application management.
  • IT governance frameworks (COBIT, ITIL), Agile delivery, DevOps, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory technology (RegTech) and compliance requirements within the insurance or financial services industry.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strategic technology leadership and enterprise‑wide transformation experience.
  • Strong understanding of insurance, takaful, banking or financial‑services technology environments.
  • Expertise in enterprise AI strategy, generative AI, intelligent automation and AI governance.
  • In‑depth knowledge of core insurance platforms and policy administration systems.
  • Strong cloud technology experience across Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity, information security and cyber resilience.
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture, systems integration and infrastructure modernisation.
  • Experience with robotic process automation, workflow automation and process redesign.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, business intelligence and predictive analytics.
  • Knowledge of COBIT, ITIL, Agile, DevOps and recognised project‑management methodologies.
  • Commercially focused, with strong budgeting, investment and vendor‑management capability.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder‑management and organisational‑change skills.
Education and Qualifications
