Role Context
The CAD Technician supports infrastructure construction and design teams by converting engineering inputs, survey information, field verification, and approved changes into accurate technical drawings. The position is particularly important for maintaining reliable records of Dubai 's sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, roads, and utility networks. Precise drafting and disciplined revision control help engineers and site teams avoid service conflicts, confirm construction progress, produce dependable as-built records, and meet authority submission standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and issue technical drawings, layouts, details, and as-built documentation using current versions of MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Translate engineering design inputs into detailed and coordinated construction drawings.
- Update drawings to reflect approved design changes, field information, and actual construction conditions.
- Maintain compliance with project specifications and applicable RTA, Dubai Municipality, and DEWA requirements.
- Apply AECOM CAD standards covering layers, scales, line conventions, title blocks, drawing references, and document presentation.
- Review available as-built information for existing sewerage, stormwater, and irrigation networks across Dubai.
- Track infrastructure information from Drainage, Irrigation, Roads, and related project records.
- Conduct site visits and surveys where required to verify installed works and gather information for as-built preparation.
- Coordinate with inspectors to confirm construction progress, dimensions, levels, alignments, and site modifications.
- Prepare and update redline markups based on verified site conditions.
- Produce section details, pipeline profiles, utility layouts, and microtunneling shaft drawings.
- Support preparation of coordinated utility drawings across multiple underground and above-ground services.
- Check utility interfaces and drawing information to help identify potential clashes or inconsistencies.
- Review contractor shop drawings and as-built submissions against recorded site conditions.
- Provide drafting support during construction when approved changes require drawing revisions.
- Coordinate drawing updates with engineers, inspectors, and document control teams.
- Ensure drawings are submitted within required project and authority timelines.
- Maintain clear revision histories and organized digital drawing archives.
- Control drawing files and records so that current approved versions remain readily identifiable.
- Support project closeout by producing accurate and traceable final as-built documentation.
Ideal Profile
- Relevant experience in CAD drafting for civil infrastructure, utilities, drainage, roads, or construction projects.
- Strong practical capability using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Experience preparing construction drawings, shop drawing updates, and as-built documentation.
- Familiarity with sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, drainage, road, and utility infrastructure is highly relevant.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, design inputs, survey information, and field markups accurately.
- Understanding of drawing coordination and infrastructure utility interfaces.
- Familiarity with RTA, Dubai Municipality, and DEWA drawing or submission requirements is advantageous.
- Experience producing pipeline profiles, sections, utility layouts, and detailed construction drawings.
- Capable of comparing contractor drawings with actual site execution and identifying discrepancies.
- Strong drawing organization and revision control discipline.
- Ability to work closely with engineers, site inspectors, survey teams, and document controllers.
- Good understanding of CAD layering, scaling, title blocks, referencing, and drawing presentation standards.
- Experience supporting active construction projects and maintaining accurate records through project closeout is preferred.
