The Role

AFG is responsible for the operational delivery of AFC’s commercial rights (for Media Partners and Sponsors) at AFC matches, tournaments, and events. The AFG Broadcast Manager (BM) is the senior broadcast representative on venue and is responsible for overseeing all planning and matchday broadcast operations. The BM is the main AFG liaison on broadcast matters for the AFC and Host Organisation, as well as being the key point of contact for the Host Broadcaster, attending AFC Media Rights Holders, and the AFG Broadcast Technical Centre (BTC) located in Singapore.

Location

Candidates should already be residing in any one of the following countries: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

Contract Type

Freelance

  • Successful candidates will be engaged by AFG on a freelance basis, i.e., a fee will be paid when services are provided for matchday operations and other commitments as required such as staff training and stadium site visits.
  • Candidates may be set up as their own business entity in their home country and must maintain their own business registrations, compliance, tax arrangements, employment law obligations and any required insurances. Freelancers will invoice AFG for their services at a standard, agreed rate

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending Site Visits to identify all broadcast spaces and infrastructure required for matchday TV production
  • Co-ordination with the Host Organisation to ensure all Broadcast operational areas and infrastructure are delivered as required
  • Management of the Broadcast Compound and Media Partner accreditation, bibs and venue access
  • Overseeing Host Broadcaster set-up and matchday delivery on venue
  • Working closely with the venue team (including but not limited to AFG Commercial Manager, AFC Match Commissioner, AFC Local General Co-ordinator, Local Media Officer, Team Media Officers) to successfully deliver the match production
  • Attending and representing AFG at organisational meetings
  • Ensuring key timings and other details critical to match production are shared with all relevant parties
  • Conducting technical checks and tests including VAR, satellite/Fibre uplink, graphics and LED / static perimeter boards camera tests
  • Checking of video and audio circuit establishment with the BTC and troubleshooting where required
  • Overseeing the delivery of all Host Broadcaster and Visiting Rights Holding Broadcaster activities including but not limited to:

MD-1 training, press conferences, dressing room filming, team bus arrivals, head coach interviews, unilateral stand-ups, post-match flash interviews and any other filming requests approved by AFG / AFC

  • Solving any on-venue broadcast matters or escalating issues to the AFG Regional Lead as necessary
  • Following AFG / AFC production guidelines and operation manuals to ensure all broadcast activities meet the required quality / standards
  • Updating match related documentation as required including pre and post-event reporting
  • Manage the Assistant Broadcast Manager (where an ABM is present) by providing clear instructions and tasks as required
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of broadcast operations management experience, ideally within football in Asia
  • Strong understanding of broadcast operations delivery in single venue and tournament contexts
  • Experience delivering the live broadcast of the following will be considered:
    • Football matches or other venue-based sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton etc.
    • Larger sports events such as multi-sport games and golf tournaments
  • Proven interaction with Broadcasters on a regular basis
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Experience working within an AFC territory
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Asia if required
