Overview

We are looking for an experienced and technically skilledBMS (Building Management System) Retrofit Sales Engineerto join our team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and sales acumen to identify, design, and sell retrofit solutions for existing BMS systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients to assess their current systems, recommend upgrades or retrofits, and deliver tailored solutions that improve energy efficiency, operational performance, and system reliability.

The BMS Retrofit Sales Engineer will be instrumental in driving revenue growth by leveraging their technical and problem-solving skills to develop solutions that meet client needs while ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Sales and Customer Engagement:
    • Identify and develop opportunities for BMS retrofit projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with building owners, facility managers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Conduct client consultations to understand their needs, challenges, and goals.
    • Present and articulate the technical and financial benefits of BMS retrofit solutions, including energy savings, operational improvements, and ROI.
  • Technical Analysis and Solution Design:
    • Conduct site surveys and assess existing BMS infrastructure to identify areas for improvement or replacement.
    • Design and propose customized retrofit solutions, including system upgrades, component replacements, and software integrations.
    • Work with internal engineering teams to develop detailed technical proposals, including hardware, software, and control strategies.
    • Ensure solutions comply with industry standards, energy efficiency guidelines, and local regulations.
  • Proposal Development and Sales Process:
    • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and cost estimates to clients.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing, timelines, and resource planning for retrofit projects.
    • Negotiate contracts and close sales while maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.
    • Follow up with clients throughout the sales process to address concerns and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Provide technical support to clients and internal teams during project implementation and commissioning phases.
    • Act as a liaison between the client and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Market Awareness and Reporting:
    • Stay up to date on the latest BMS technologies, trends, and industry developments.
    • Monitor competitors and market conditions to identify new opportunities.
    • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline progress.
    • Provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports to management.
Key Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, Instrumentation, or a related field).
    • Professional certifications in BMS, energy management, or building automation are a plus (e.g., LEED, CEM, or equivalent).
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in BMS, HVAC, building automation, or energy management industries.
    • Proven track record in sales, particularly in retrofit projects or technical solutions.
    • Hands-on experience with major BMS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, or Tridium).
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Strong technical knowledge of BMS systems, control strategies, and energy management principles.
    • Ability to assess existing systems and propose cost-effective solutions that meet client needs.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools is a plus.
    • Familiarity with IoT, smart building solutions, and green building standards is preferred.
