Job summary

American University of Sharjah is seeking a Labs Supervisor to oversee the Behavioral Research Lab and SBA computer laboratories. The role coordinates experiments, manages infrastructure, and ensures compliant data handling and research workflows.

The incumbent liaises with faculty, IT Services, procurement, and vendors to keep labs operational, up-to-date, and secure, providing technical support and reporting on usage and licensing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in laboratory management, research administration, or data analytics.
• Experience supporting academic research environments in higher education is preferred.
• Experience with software licenses, procurement, and vendor relations is desirable.
• Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Research Lab and SBA computer labs.
• Coordinate, schedule, and support lab-based experiments and data collection.
• Maintain lab computers, servers, networks, software, and equipment in coordination with IT Services.
• Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot research software and databases.
• Administer experimental platforms such as oTree, z-Tree, Qualtrics, Prolific, MTurk.
• Develop participant recruitment systems compliant with privacy and ethics.
• Provide technical support for research projects and data collection procedures.
• Assist with data extraction, cleaning, preparation, and preliminary analysis using statistical tools.
• Monitor lab usage and prepare reports on usage, licenses, inventory, and performance.
• Coordinate software licensing and renewal with faculty and vendors.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and software assets; coordinate annual inventories.
• Prepare budget forecasts and expenditure reports for lab operations.
• Coordinate upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and update lab policies and user guides.
• Train faculty, staff, and students on lab systems and data management.
• Collaborate with IT, Facilities, Procurement, and Finance to resolve issues.
