Job summary

The Meydan Hotel in Dubai seeks an AV Technician to set up, operate, and maintain audio-visual systems for events, conferences, and daily operations. You will ensure reliable sound, lighting, projection, video conferencing, and digital signage; collaborate with Events, IT and Engineering; and keep equipment records and preventive maintenance schedules.

Ideal candidates hold an AV diploma with 3+ years of hands-on experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and excellent guest service abilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in AV or equivalent required.
• Hands-on experience with multi-input AV systems and projection.
• Minimum 3 years in related field, hotel industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up projectors, sound systems, video conferencing gear, LCD/plasma screens, cameras, lighting.
• Assemble equipment per BEO or client instructions.
• Test and operate equipment during rehearsals and events.
• Manage equipment bookings and track inventory.
• Train banquet staff on operation of AV equipment.
• Recommend upgrades and maintain safety/compliance.

Job Summary

The AV Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of audio-visual systems and equipment throughout the property. The role supports events, conferences, and daily operational requirements by ensuring reliable performance of sound systems, lighting, projection, video conferencing, digital signage, and other multimedia technologies. The AV Technician works closely with the Events, IT, and Engineering teams to provide technical support, coordinate event requirements, and ensure seamless delivery of AV services. The position also ensures compliance with safety and quality standards while maintaining accurate records of equipment, inventory, and preventive maintenance schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Sets up the following:
  • Projectors
  • Sound Systems
  • Video conferencing equipment
  • LCD or plasma screens
  • Video & still cameras
  • Image editing software & lighting
• Sets up equipment according to the instruction based on the Banquet Events Order (BEO) or client.
• Tests equipment before the event and operating the equipment during rehearsal, testing, and during the event.
• Deals with all aspects of Audio Visual System set up checking, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all equipment as needed.
• Manages equipment booking and tracking system.
• Training other banquet staff members on how to use & operate equipment.
• Checks venue’s AV equipment and recommending or organizing upgrades when necessary.
• Assists the guests during the events.
• Performs other duties assigned by management

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

• Audio Visual Technical Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge in operating a multi-input AV system, Projectors, Screen etc.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in related field with hands on experience
• Experience in Hotel industry.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with AV equipment setup, wiring, and signal routing.
• Knowledge of lighting and audio equipment operation.
• Good communication and customer service skills for guest-facing situations.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple event setups.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Ability to lift and handle equipment safely.
• Good Communicating skill with guest and staff.
