Job summary

Sofitel Dubai The Palm seeks an experienced AV Technician to plan and execute AV setup for events. You will install and operate sound systems, lighting, projectors, and video walls for on-site and hybrid presentations.

The role requires 2–3 years of AV experience in luxury hospitality or events, with knowledge of Crestron/Extron control systems and streaming for virtual attendees.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in electronics, AV, sound engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years AV experience in 5-star hotel, convention venue or event production.
• Hands-on knowledge of digital mixers, wireless mics, projection and video conferencing tools.

Responsibilities

• Review event orders and plan AV setup with Events team.
• Install, test and operate sound, lighting, projection and video systems during events.
• Support hybrid/virtual meetings: streaming, cameras and conferencing issues.
• Maintain and inventory AV equipment; report losses or damage.
• Coordinate with external AV suppliers and supervise their work on site.

Job Description

• Review event orders (BEOs) and plan the AV set-up, equipment and timing with the Events team
• Install, test and operate sound systems, microphones, projectors, LED screens, video walls, stage lighting and video conferencing
• Attend pre-event briefings, rehearsals and sound checks; stay on stand-by during events to resolve issues immediately
• Operate audio mixers, lighting consoles and presentation switchers during live events
• Support hybrid and virtual meetings: streaming, cameras, laptops, clicker and connection issues for presenters
• Maintain background music, paging and AV systems in restaurants, bars, pool, beach, spa and public areas
• Dismantle, check, clean and correctly store all equipment after each event
• Run preventive maintenance on AV equipment and keep an up-to-date inventory, reporting losses or damage
• Coordinate with external AV suppliers and contractors and supervise their work on property
• Advise clients and the Events team on suitable technical solutions and support upselling of AV packages
• Log all work orders and incidents in the maintenance system
• Follow electrical safety, cable management, working-at-height and Accor Health & Safety standards
• Keep up to date with new AV technology and propose improvements to equipment and processes

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical certificate in electronics, audio-visual, sound engineering or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years' AV experience in a 5-star hotel, convention venue or event production company
• Hands-on knowledge of digital mixers, wireless microphones, projection, LED screens, lighting and video conferencing platforms
• Good understanding of signal flow, networking basics and AV control systems (e.g. Crestron, Extron) an advantage
• Good spoken and written English; Arabic or French an advantage
• Valid UAE driving licence an advantage
