Job summary

MDR is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer in Abu Dhabi to contribute under close supervision. You will perform routine design tasks, prepare calculations, and assist in developing electrical diagrams as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes learning standards, codes, and guidelines while supporting cost awareness and project scope understanding, under the guidance of the Lead Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering required.
• 0–3 years experience in oil and gas preferred.
• EIT registered or professional engineering society member preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic tasks.
• Prepare clear and accurate design calculations, analyses, and procedures.
• Develop one-line diagrams and sketches to guide designers.
• Populate electrical items in databases (e.g., SPEL).
• Coordinate with lead engineer and other discipline engineers.

Job Overview:

The Associate Electrical Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing Electrical procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team and will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Electrical and Engineering.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Be familiar with the Company procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and standards for work to be performed and asked guidance where required
• Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
• Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under the close supervision and mentoring of an experienced engineer
• Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures
• Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
• Communicate information, asking questions, and checking for understanding
• Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
• Perform calculations for the power distribution system
• Produce consumer lists from available equipment data
• Make sizing calculations of electrical equipment and components
• Populate electrical items in electrical databases like SPEL
• Make electrical one-line diagrams
• Prepare sketches of detailed design to guide Designers
• Requisition and specify simple bulk materials, including TBE and SDR
• Check drawings
• Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
• Develop an awareness of costs related to own work
• Develop a basic understanding of MDRs business and the customers it serves
• Develop basic knowledge of MDRs business units and interactions, including engineering and fabrication
• Develop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Reports to:
Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Supervising Department Manager
Liaise With: Engineers, Design Supervisors and Designers of their own discipline

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Engineering
• 0-3 years experience in oil and gas
• Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
• Learning design techniques and analysis methods
• Preferably a Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or a member of a professional engineering society

Successful degree holding candidates will be required to provide a degree equivalency certificate issues by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). Candidates who do not already have this available are recommended to commence the process to avoid delays in the offer and onboarding process.
