Job summary

McDermott International, Ltd is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer in Dubai to support routine design tasks under supervision. You will apply standard procedures, perform basic calculations, and contribute to electrical deliverables and reports.

The role emphasizes learning standards, practicing design techniques, and developing familiarity with MDR’s business units and client projects within the energy sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • 0-3 years experience in oil and gas.
  • Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable.
  • Learning design techniques and analysis methods.
  • Preferably a Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or a member of a professional engineering society.

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with the Company procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and standards for work to be performed and asked guidance where required.
  • Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks.
  • Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under the close supervision and mentoring of an experienced engineer.
  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures.
  • Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
  • Communicate information, asking questions, and checking for understanding.
  • Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements.
  • Perform calculations for the power distribution system.
  • Produce consumer lists from available equipment data.
  • Make sizing calculations of electrical equipment and components.
  • Populate electrical items in electrical databases like SPEL.
  • Make electrical one-line diagrams
  • Prepare sketches of detailed design to guide Designers
  • Requisition and specify simple bulk materials, including TBE and SDR
  • Check drawings
  • Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
  • Develop an awareness of costs related to own work
  • Develop a basic understanding of MDR's business and the customers it serves
  • Develop basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions, including engineering and fabrication
  • Develop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Supervising Department Manager
Liaise With: Engineers, Design Supervisors and Designers of their own discipline
