Job summary

ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants seeks an Assistant Resident Engineer – Buildings for a project in KIZAD, Abu Dhabi. The role supports the Resident Engineer in supervising building construction, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery to approved designs, specs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Total 12+ years of experience in engineering with at least 6 years in the UAE.
• Proven track record supervising significant building projects (warehouses/industrial).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Resident Engineer and supervise buildings construction projects.
• Manage project phase, part or area as assigned by Management and RE.
• Act as a substitute for the Resident Engineer during their absence or leave.
• Coordinate with design engineers and inspectors to align on-site activities.
• Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements for the utility scope.
• Coordinate with ALSUWEIDI's design engineers to resolve issues.
• Maintain daily diaries and site records prepared by inspectors.
• Oversee safety objectives and enforce safety protocols on site.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and updates.
• Verify progress against the project schedule and maintain records.

We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and detail-oriented Assistant Resident Engineer – Buildings to join our team for a project in KIZAD, Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of building construction works, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related program
• Minimum 12 total years of experience in the field of engineering, at least 6 in UAE.

Supervision Expertise:

• Demonstrates a comprehensive track record in all aspects of civil supervision for significant building projects mainly warehouses and industrial buildings.
• Thorough understanding of engineering, civil construction, and industry-leading practices.

Software Proficiency:

• Familiar with MS Office, Outlook, AutoCAD and other related software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Report to the Resident Engineer and contribute to the supervision of buildings construction projects and related tasks.
• Manage phase, part or area of the project as assigned by Management and RE.
• Act as a substitute for the Resident Engineer during their absence or leave.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers and members of the construction supervision team to coordinate activities effectively.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in the review of shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and other tasks related to the utility section, including the preparation of responses for the Resident Engineer's review.
• Coordinate with ALSUWEIDI's design engineers to resolve related issues.
• Maintain comprehensive daily diaries and reports prepared by inspectors.
• Work with contractor engineers to manage scheduling and resource allocation.
• Provide guidance, support, and oversight for inspectors and surveyors as required.
• Organize and lead special meetings involving service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and other relevant parties related to your responsibilities.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of records.
• Oversee the achievement of safety objectives on the project and supervise the implementation of safety protocols.
• Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Actively engage in all health and safety matters on-site, as directed by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
• Offer necessary on-site direction and support the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions related to utility works and related items.
• Verify and measure the completed work within your area of responsibility, maintain records, and assist the Resident Engineer in tracking progress against the project schedule.
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of as-built drawings within your scope of work.
• Examine and validate material submissions, analyze technical reports, execute acceptance sampling plans, perform testing, and assess quality to guarantee adherence to project specifications.
