Context
The Assistant Nurse will support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered outpatient care by assisting physicians, nurses, and clinic teams during consultations, assessments, procedures, and routine clinical workflows. The role helps improve patient experience, supports continuity of care, protects patient dignity and privacy, and ensures clinical activities are carried out in line with healthcare standards, safety practices, and daily clinic requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support physicians and nursing teams in providing high-quality clinical and personal care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and other required observations.
- Escalate abnormal findings, patient discomfort, urgent concerns, or changes in condition to the registered nurse or physician without delay.
- Assist with patient preparation before consultations, examinations, minor procedures, and clinical assessments.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, consent, comfort, and safety throughout the care process.
- Help patients move safely within the clinic and provide basic support to those requiring assistance.
- Prepare consultation rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and basic clinical supplies before and after patient care activities.
- Assist in maintaining infection control standards through proper cleaning, hand hygiene, safe handling of clinical items, and disposal of used materials.
- Support documentation by recording basic clinical information accurately as instructed by the nursing or medical team.
- Coordinate with reception, nursing staff, physicians, and support teams to help maintain smooth patient flow.
- Reassure patients and families by communicating clearly, respectfully, and professionally during clinic visits.
- Assist with stock checks and ensure clinical supplies are available for daily outpatient operations.
- Follow clinic policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and healthcare quality standards.
- Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, supply shortages, or operational issues to the appropriate team member.
- Support the clinic team during busy periods by multitasking while maintaining attention to detail and patient care standards.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or recognized qualification in nursing or assistant nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an outpatient clinic, hospital, medical center, or primary care environment.
- Previous experience supporting physicians and nurses during patient assessments, procedures, and routine clinical activities.
- Good understanding of vital signs monitoring, patient comfort, basic clinical support, infection control, and safe care practices.
- DHA eligibility, DHA license, or relevant UAE healthcare experience is an advantage.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting with high patient volume.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, doctors, nurses, and clinic staff.
- Caring, respectful, and patient-focused approach with strong attention to privacy and dignity.
- Able to follow instructions accurately and elevate concerns appropriately.
- Organized and reliable with the ability to manage several clinical support tasks during busy clinic hours.
- Good awareness of healthcare documentation, confidentiality, hygiene standards, and workplace safety.
- Willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team in Dubai.
