Job summary

Bab Al Shams Desert Resort in Dubai seeks an Assistant Manager, Engineering to support the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily operations, ensuring preventive maintenance and asset reliability. The role leads a team, manages maintenance programs, budgets, and coordination with contractors while maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a 5-star hotel or hospitality property, preferably in Engineering.
• Proficiency in CMMS, PMS and MS Office applications.
• Strong leadership, team management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, building systems and health & safety regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily engineering operations, maintenance schedules and departmental budgets.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of all building systems, equipment and assets.
• Supervise engineering technicians and ensure timely completion of tasks to established standards.
• Prepare scopes of work and BOQs for maintenance, refurbishment, CAPEX, and FF&E projects.
• Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and life safety systems operate safely and comply with regulations.
• Monitor maintenance requests, work orders and records through the CMMS.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors for maintenance works, inspections and testing.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements and hotel engineering procedures.
