Job summary

Rebel Recruiters seeks a Head of Battery & Energy Storage for a greenfield aerospace programme based in Dubai. You will build and lead the battery and energy storage capability from ground up, delivering hardware through qualification and testing.

Qualifications

• 12+ years' experience in battery, energy storage or power systems engineering.
• At least 5 years' experience within airborne or safety critical applications.
• Proven experience delivering battery hardware through a completed physical test campaign.
• Experience establishing or expanding battery test capability (facilities, equipment, procedures, safety).
• Strong hands-on battery pack architecture experience (pack sizing and layout).
• Experience with cell characterisation, abuse testing and propagation testing.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage battery systems and safe HV working environments.
• Experience managing suppliers of long lead technical components and cost ownership.
• Experience with programme planning, estimating and cost ownership.
• Ability to work within a paired delivery and technical authority leadership model.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Battery & Energy Storage engineering team, recruiting specialist engineers.
• Own the battery development plan, schedule, estimates, resources and cost.
• Develop cell characterisation, abuse, propagation and high voltage test capability.
• Establish facilities, equipment, procedures and safety controls ahead of qualification.
• Act as battery pack architect during early programme, supporting sizing and layout.
• Lead delivery of battery hardware through development, testing and qualification.
• Manage suppliers of cells and long lead components, including recovery of underperforming deliveries.
• Balance engineering resources across design, development and physical test activities.
• Ensure safe execution of high voltage build and test activities.
• Manage interfaces with Propulsion, Structures and Airframe Integration.
