Overview
American University of Ras Al-Khaimah, School of Engineering, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering invites applications for the position of Teaching Assistant in the Architecture program. This is a full-time position for Fall 2025, beginning September 2025.
Responsibilities
- An undergraduate / Bachelor Degree (B.Arch. or equivalent) in Architecture or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Fully experienced in architectural design and the application of digital software including tools such as Plotters, 3D-Printers and Laser Cutters, along with software packages to tutor architectural students and support their Fundamental Basic and Advanced Projects and Computational Architectural Design Studios. Proficient with software packages such as AutoCAD Architecture, 3D Studio MAX, and advanced software packages including Autodesk / Revit Architecture/Autodesk Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Parametric Architecture Design Studio, Computer Visualizations, Drafting Modeling and Rendering, and other media for production and presentation works.
- Willing to tutor and work with beginner and senior students in both Digital and Hand-skill Workshops.
- Knowledge in preparing student digital portfolios.
- Proficiency in teaching design studios and in working closely with students (in groups and one-on-one), with student advising abilities to support the department, school, university and community.
- Proven experience in professional practice of Architecture including working on major real-life projects.
- Willingness to assist the department faculty members in preparing and assessing student work.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering (B.Arch. or equivalent).
- Experience with digital fabrication tools and software listed above.
- Ability to tutor and mentor students across digital and hand-skill workshops.
- Experience in portfolio preparation and design studio instruction; advising capabilities are a plus.
- Demonstrated professional architecture practice on major projects.
