Job summary

The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, seeks a hands-on Hotel Maintenance Workshop Technician with hotel maintenance experience to join our team.

You will maintain equipment, furniture, fixtures and facilities through repairs, refurbishment and fabrication, supporting daily hotel operations with the Engineering team and ensuring high-quality, durable work with minimal guest disruption.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in hotel workshop or maintenance.
• Previous hotel experience is essential.
• Technical or trade qualification in Mechanical/Electrical is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of workshop tools and safe working procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hotel equipment, furniture, fixtures and facilities.
• Repair, refurbish and fabricate components within the workshop.
• Assist with on-site maintenance and urgent repairs across guest and back-of-house areas.
• Complete work to a high standard of quality and durability while minimising disruption to guests.
• Operate and maintain workshop tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and test completed work to ensure reliability and performance.
• Maintain a clean, organised and functional workshop.
• Work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance team to support daily hotel operations.
• Monitor tools, materials and inventory levels, reporting shortages, defects and equipment concerns to maintenance leadership.
• Handle and store workshop equipment and materials correctly.
• Follow health and safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment and maintain operational standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
