Job summary

The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, is seeking a Red Seal Electrician with hands-on expertise to keep our busy hotel operating safely and reliably. You will work across guest rooms, restaurants, kitchens, public areas, conference facilities and back-of-house operations, performing fault-finding, preventative maintenance and electrical repairs.

The role requires read electrical diagrams, adherence to SANS standards, and the ability to manage shifts, weekends and on-call requests.

Qualifications

• Red Seal certification is essential.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified Electrician.
• Experience in hotel, hospitality, hospital, retail or large commercial property maintenance is advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with distribution boards, lighting, circuits, sockets, appliances and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical drawings.
• Planned and preventative maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of SANS standards and electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to work across shifts including weekends and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Identify and repair electrical faults across the hotel.
• Maintain distribution boards, lighting, circuits and electrical equipment.
• Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and urgent maintenance requests.
• Inspect electrical installations and equipment to identify hazards and maintenance needs.
• Follow safe isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team and external contractors when required.
• Deliver safe, reliable workmanship while minimising disruption to guests and hotel operations.

The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, is looking for an experienced, hands-on Electrician with strong fault-finding, preventative maintenance and electrical repair skills.

You must be confident working across guest rooms, restaurants, kitchens, public areas, conference facilities and back-of-house operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Recognised Electrician Trade Test / Red Seal certification - essential and non-negotiable.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified Electrician.
• Hotel, hospitality, hospital, retail or large commercial property maintenance experience is highly advantageous.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with distribution boards, lighting, circuits, sockets, appliances and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical drawings.
• Planned and preventative maintenance experience.
• Sound knowledge of applicable SANS standards, electrical safety requirements and safe isolation procedures.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and emergency call-outs.
• Valid South African ID.
