Job summary

Implats is seeking a mine winder operator to safely and effectively operate the mine winder for hauling ore, personnel, materials and equipment during shifts.

The role requires Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, plus several years of shaft experience in related roles such as Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman and double drum winder expertise. Adherence to safety standards and efficient coordination of winding activities are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science is essential.
• 3 years working experience in shaft barrel as a Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman is essential.
• 2 years double drum winder experience is essential.
• 2 years vertical shaft experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Starts and takes control of a winder.
• Communicates winding engine defects and sub-standard conditions to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Performs ore pulling operations from relevant levels.
• Transports people by means of a winder.
• Coordinates winding activities with total process requirements.
• Escalates abnormal operations problems to appropriate Engineer or Manager.
• Responds to standard signals.
• Assists during breakdowns or emergencies.
• Adheres to applicable legislation with regards to winding plant.
• Maintains the housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Maintains own safe and productive workplace.
• Advises on defects and abnormalities to appropriate Engineer or manager.
• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
• Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
