Job summary

South32 invites applications for an Operator Hauler at the Mamatwan mine in the Northern Cape. The role involves hauling Overburden or Manganese from loading zones to designated destinations, with tasks including pushing material to dumps, in-pit stockpiles or crushers.

You will operate heavy equipment in an open-cut mining environment and follow safety and traffic guidelines on-site. Required are 1 year of mobile equipment experience in mining and a Grade 12 (or Grade 10 for internal

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience operating mobile equipment in a mining environment.
Mining production experience in surface mining operations.

Responsibilities

Haul Overburden or manganese from loading area to destination (waste dump, in pit stockpile or in pit crusher).
Dumping may include road, ramp, safety and catchment construction.
Operate as primary equipment for transporting waste or ore per standards.
Maintain safe driving on haul roads according to traffic signs and management.
Ensure safe entry to dumping area or in-pit crusher tip and avoid collisions.
Maintain safe distance from dump edge to prevent edge overruns.
Comply with fatigue rules to prevent fatigue-related incidents on haul roads.
Dump material from ramps using correct positioning on inclines.
Open sumps and trenches for water pumps beside haul roads.
Remove big rocks from muck pile and close trenches for pipe columns.
