Job summary

Virgin Active South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Club General Manager to oversee the operational and financial performance of the club. You will manage revenue/EBITDA growth, expenses, and health & safety while leading recruitment, development, and policy implementation.

You will ensure exceptional member experiences, monitor competitor activity, and report risks to senior management, fostering a high-performance team in a dynamic health club environment.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent NQF level 4 is essential.
• Previous managerial experience at Club General Manager level with leadership skills or as 2IC to a Club General Manager.
• Must have completed the internal Learn to Fly programme.
• Must have financial proficiency and strong financial acumen.
• Must have a business owner approach.
• Strong understanding of the market and competitive insight.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good customer relations and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of People/HR procedures including recruitment, development, relations, performance and coaching.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Financial Management: ensure profitable club operations, revenue and EBITDA growth, manage expenses.
• Oversee Facility Management: ensure health & safety, maintenance, and cost efficiency.
• Oversee People Management: recruit, develop, train staff and communicate policies.
• Oversee Service Experience: deliver exceptional member service and resolve queries per policy.
• Oversee Competitor Analysis: monitor competition and report risks to senior management.
