Job summary

Discovery Vitality RSA is seeking an Associate Specialist for Wearables who will drive end-to-end reliability of connected devices (Apple Watch, Garmin, Oura, Samsung, Fitbit) and improve member experience across the device lifecycle. You will diagnose issues across firmware, APIs, data pipelines and journeys with a focus on zero defects.

The role requires strong software/IoT background, experience with APIs, data integrity and privacy compliance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Mechatronic/Electronic Eng with software competency.
• Post-graduate certifications (AWS/Azure/ITIL/SAFe/ISTQB/ISO 27001/POPIA) advantageous.
• 1–3 years in software/embedded/IoT or product engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor device integration health across partner APIs and maintain uptime and data freshness.
• Own Splunk/observability dashboards and drive incident detection to resolution.
• Design fail-safe controls and chaos-style resilience tests for data ingestion and billing flows.
• Lead RCA on top device-related issues and drive defect-reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with Servicing, R&D, and Systems to improve self-service journeys and onboarding.
• Govern and document data handling, change logs and audit-ready reporting.
