Job summary

City of Ekurhuleni invites applications for General Assistant: Water Tanker/Hi-up Truck/TLB. The role supports the Supervisor with maintenance, repair work and new work on water and sewer networks, water reservoirs and related infrastructure within Ekurhuleni.

Remuneration ranges from R200 664 to R275 256 per annum plus benefits. Permanent appointment, on-site in Gauteng. Candidate must have Grade 10, physical ability, and at least 1 year of relevant experience as a general worker.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Physical ability to perform all work required.
• 1 year of relevant experience as a general worker.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance, repair work and new work on water and sewer networks.
• Excavate using pick and shovel or other designed tools.
• Prepare bed for laying of reticulation pipes.
• Backfill and compaction with shovel and compactor.
• Enter sewer pumps to remove rags and foreign objects.
• Ensure safety standards per regulatory requirements.
• Assist with general handy work and routine maintenance.
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment safely.
• Clean workplace, ablution facilities and offices.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and procedures.
