Job summary

City of Ekurhuleni is seeking a proven leader in Waste Management to drive strategy development, performance monitoring and reporting. The role involves ensuring data verification, analysis and alignment of policies with environmental requirements and municipal objectives.

You will oversee cross-functional processes, coordinate projects across levels of government, and strengthen governance while delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in Natural Science/Geography/Environmental Science or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Strong computer literacy with Word and Excel; excellent English.
• 5–8 years in middle management; experience in performance monitoring, reporting, evaluation, strategy development and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide specialised technical support in strategy development, performance monitoring, data verification, performance analysis, and reporting within the Waste Management Business Unit.
• Provide Strategic capability and leadership to manage a functional unit within a Division to deliver objectives on time and within budget.
• Ensure Waste Management policies, strategies and plans are researched, benchmarked, aligned, implemented, monitored and improved to support service delivery and reforms.
• Conduct operational processes.
• Coordinate assessment of department policies to ensure alignment with Waste Management and environmental legislation and objectives.
• Identify, develop and implement Waste Management projects across government levels to address operational challenges.
• Maintain relationships with decision makers to support objectives and knowledge sharing.
• Develop, refine, and monitor sustainability metrics for inclusion in IDP/SDBIP and reform requirements.
• Ensure governance and risk management; maintain financial processes and compliance.
