Job summary

Humankind Group in Cape Town is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to oversee day-to-day warehouse operations within the Commodities division. You will coordinate activities, supervise the packing team, maintain stock records and ensure the efficient flow from receiving through to packing and dispatch.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in warehouse operations, strong leadership and experience with warehouse management systems, with a hands-on approach and a focus on accuracy and deadlines.

Job description

Our client, a well-established business within the commodities industry, is seeking a hands-on and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations within their Commodities division.

This role will be responsible for coordinating warehouse activities, supervising the packing team, maintaining accurate stock control and ensuring the efficient flow of product from receiving through to packing and dispatch. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the operation and will need to be comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• At least 3 years' experience in warehouse operations, inventory control and team supervision.
• Strong computer literacy with experience using stock and warehouse management systems.
• Good understanding of receiving, storage, stock control, packing and dispatch processes.
• Experience within the fresh produce, agricultural or FMCG industry will be advantageous.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to actively support operational requirements.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities.
• Oversee the receiving and handling of inbound raw materials.
• Supervise packing operations and provide day-to-day direction to the warehouse and packing team.
• Ensure products are packed according to required quality and operational standards.
• Coordinate and oversee the dispatch of finished product.
• Maintain accurate stock control and inventory records.
• Conduct regular stock checks and investigate and resolve stock variances.
• Ensure warehouse housekeeping, organisation and operational standards are consistently maintained.
• Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to achieve operational targets.
• Train, support and manage warehouse employees to promote safe and efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety requirements and warehouse controls.
• Assist with hands-on operational duties where required to ensure the successful execution of warehouse activities.
• Identify and address operational issues that may impact productivity, stock accuracy or dispatch timelines.
