Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in volunteer management or related field.
• Proven success in recruitment, training, and retention.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using database software for record-keeping (CRM, volunteer management systems).
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Genuine passion for community service and the nonprofit sector.
• Empathy and sensitivity in dealing with diverse individuals.
• Experience working within Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA is a significant advantage.
• Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for volunteer events or emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for recruiting new volunteers through various channels.
• Screen, interview, and onboard new volunteers, ensuring a good fit for both the volunteer and the organization.
• Develop and deliver training programs for volunteers on their roles, organizational policies, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments, ensuring adequate coverage for all programs and events.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and providing ongoing support.
• Organize volunteer appreciation events and initiatives to recognize their contributions.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records, including contact information, hours, and training status.
• Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and ensure effective deployment.
• Assist in the development of volunteer handbooks, guidelines, and communication materials.
• Promote a positive and inclusive volunteer culture within the organization.
