Qualifications

• A degree or advanced diploma in Viticulture, Horticulture, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in vineyard management, preferably within premium wine production.
• In-depth knowledge of grape varietal characteristics, growth cycles, and optimal growing conditions.
• Strong understanding of soil science, plant physiology, and pest/disease management in viticulture.
• Experience with irrigation scheduling and water management in vineyards.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in vineyard mapping and data management software is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of vineyard operations, including planting, pruning, canopy management, and trellising.
• Develop and implement vineyard nutrition and irrigation programs based on soil analysis and plant needs.
• Monitor vineyard health, identifying and managing pests, diseases, and weed pressures using sustainable methods.
• Oversee grape harvesting operations, ensuring optimal fruit quality and timely picking.
• Conduct soil and leaf tissue analysis to inform vineyard management decisions.
• Manage vineyard staff, providing training, supervision, and performance evaluation.
• Maintain detailed records of all vineyard activities, inputs, and yields.
• Collaborate with winemakers to ensure grape quality meets the specific requirements for wine production.
