Assist World is assisting a small U.S. East Coast law firm in finding a Virtual Legal Assistant to support the attorney and the legal assistant.
The role starts part-time (20 hours/week) with potential to grow to full-time, requires strong Excel, calendar management, and familiarity with Time Matters; remote work during ET business hours.
Our client is a small law firm on the U.S. East Coast seeking a Virtual Legal Assistant to support the attorney and existing legal assistant. The role covers general legal administrative support, case organization, and light guardianship/accounting-related tasks. This position starts part-time with strong potential to move to full‑time.
• Schedule: 20 hours/week to start, with potential to grow to full‑time
• Time Zone: Must work Eastern Time (ET) business hours
• Open and organize new case files
• Manage the attorney's calendar and schedule meetings
• Provide light legal support work as needed
• Prepare and file documents with the courts as directed by the attorney
• Maintain organization within Time Matters case management software
• Draft and send emails on the attorney's behalf; stay CC'd on correspondence to follow up with other attorneys regarding motions
• Follow up with care facilities and other third parties to gather information needed for annual guardianship accountings
• Perform data entry of financial information (bank statements, client expenses) into Excel spreadsheets
• Support overflow work for the firm's in-house legal assistant
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a legal assistant or virtual assistant
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (near-essential)
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook
• Familiarity with Time Matters software preferred; training will be provided
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable with data entry and general administrative/legal support tasks
• Available to work during Eastern Time business hours
• Spanish language proficiency (a strong plus, not required — many of the firm's clients communicate in Spanish)
