About the Role

Our client, a renowned game development studio in Mossel Bay , is seeking an visionary Video Game Audio Director to lead their audio team. You will be responsible for defining and executing the overall audio strategy for multiple game titles, ensuring a cohesive and impactful sonic experience. This leadership role involves managing sound designers, composers, and audio programmers, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. You will work closely with game directors, producers, and other department leads to champion the audio vision, integrate it seamlessly with gameplay, and ensure the highest quality standards are met throughout the development cycle, guiding the team to create unforgettable auditory worlds.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and oversee the audio vision, direction, and implementation strategy for all game projects.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sound designers, composers, and audio engineers.
• Collaborate with game directors and stakeholders to align audio with the overall game design and narrative.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of all in-game audio assets, including sound effects, music, and voiceovers.
• Manage audio budgets, schedules, and external vendor relationships.
• Champion audio quality and innovation throughout the development pipeline.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in audio production for video games, with at least 3 years in a leadership or directorial role.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional audio direction and execution across multiple shipped titles.
• Deep understanding of audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD) and game engines (Unreal, Unity).
• Proven ability to lead and inspire a creative team in a demanding development environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• A passion for video games and a deep understanding of player experience through sound.
