Job summary

Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (SA) Ltd (PFA) in Cape Town seeks a VAT specialist to manage monthly VAT returns, assist with VAT apportionment, and ensure compliance across the OML Group.

The role requires an accounting qualification, exposure to tax compliance, and VAT Act knowledge. Strong Excel skills and data analytics are advantageous; you will report to the VAT Lead, maintain VAT dashboards, and support SARS engagements.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualification is required.
• H Dip Tax/Tax Honours (or in progress) is advantageous.
• 2+ years tax compliance experience is advantageous.
• Good understanding of Financial Services business and tax processes is essential.
• Knowledge of the VAT Act would be advantageous.
• Technology-focused problem solving and strong Excel skills would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for the OML Group.
• Assist VAT Lead with VAT apportionment methodology, improvement and compliance.
• Reconcile VAT control accounts and process journals.
• Capture VAT payments and prepare VAT reconciliation journals.
• Monitor monthly VAT compliance and prepare VAT dashboards and reports.
• Support VAT function with data analytics and VAT systems.
• Respond to VAT queries from SARS and business and assist with VAT rulings.
