Job summary

Old Mutual Limited in Cape Town seeks a VAT and Tax Specialist to manage monthly VAT returns, assist the VAT Lead with compliance, and prepare dashboards. The role focuses on accuracy, timely reporting, and process improvement across the OML Group.

You will monitor VAT compliance for subsidiaries, review reconciliations, and engage with SARS on rulings and queries while applying data analytics to optimise VAT processes.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Accounting.
• H Dip Tax/Tax Honours advantageous or in progress.
• 2+ years tax compliance experience advantageous.
• Strong Excel and tax process knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for the OML Group.
• Assist VAT Lead with VAT apportionment, improvement, implementation, monitoring, review and compliance.
• Review VAT reconciliations and ensure VAT control accounts are cleared.
• Capture VAT payments and prepare reconciliation journals.
• Reconcile VAT control accounts monthly and clear items.
• Ensure compliance and DCT control requirements.
• Monitor monthly VAT compliance and review returns for subsidiaries.
• Prepare monthly VAT dashboard, analytics and reports with variance commentary.
• Support VAT function with data analytics and tax technology.
• Respond to VAT queries and SARS rulings; stay updated on VAT legislation.
• Provide input for tax policy development and system planning.
