Job summary

Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (SA) Ltd in South Africa seeks a VAT specialist to manage the monthly VAT cycle for the OML Group. The role focuses on preparation and submission of VAT returns, supporting apportionment and compliance across subsidiaries.

You will review VAT reconciliations, maintain control accounts, produce dashboards and analytics, and advise on VAT planning and process improvements. A Tax qualification and experience in financial services are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: Relevant qualification in Accounting
• 2+ years Tax Compliance experience advantageous
• Good operational understanding of Financial Services and tax processes

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for the OML Group.
• Assist VAT Lead with VAT apportionment methodology and compliance.
• Review VAT reconciliations and ensure VAT control accounts are cleared monthly.
• Capture VAT payments and journalise VAT reconciliation journals.
• Provide VAT health checks and respond to SARS queries and VAT rulings.
• Support data analytics, VAT reporting and KPI dashboards.

Education

NQF Level 7 - Degree, Advance Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent
