Placements24 is seeking an Urban Planning and Development Engineer for a client in Soweto, Gauteng. The role focuses on integrating civil engineering with land use, transport, and community development to shape sustainable urban environments.

A minimum of 6 years' experience and registration is advantageous. You will collaborate with municipal authorities, developers, and stakeholders to deliver master plans and infrastructure designs that meet regulatory requirements and drive urban renewal in

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in urban planning, development engineering, or related field.
Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng) or SACPLAN (Pr. PI) is advantageous.
Familiarity with South African planning legislation and municipal development frameworks.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement urban planning strategies and master plans.
Conduct feasibility studies and impact assessments for new urban developments.
Design and integrate infrastructure components (roads, water, sanitation, public transport) into urban plans.
Liaise with municipal planning departments and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and secure approvals.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with community stakeholders.
Analyse land use patterns, zoning regulations, and population growth trends.
Prepare planning reports, presentations, and development proposals.
Ensure sustainability and resilience in urban development projects.
