Job summary

Sovereign in the Eastern Cape is seeking an experienced Underwriter for a 3 months fixed term position. The role involves processing renewals, policy amendments and quotations, and providing underwriting support to the underwriting team.

Applicants should have a matric, 35 years' experience in underwriting, familiarity with insurer online platforms and underwriting systems, and strong MS Office skills. Proficiency in English and Afrikaans and excellent customer service are essential for success

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Relevant Short-Term Insurance qualification will be advantageous.
• Minimum 35 years' experience in a similar underwriting role (non-negotiable).
• Experience working on insurer online platforms and underwriting systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Systematic with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Process renewals, policy amendments and quotations for existing clients.
• Work closely with the underwriting team to provide efficient underwriting support.
• Perform a variety of underwriting administration and support functions.
• Ensure accurate processing of policy documentation and client records.
• Maintain a high level of customer service while managing client queries.
• Liaise with insurers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely turnaround of requests.
• Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company procedures and insurer requirements.
