Job summary

Implats is seeking an Axess Rig Operator to operate a mobile mechanized rig underground per drill plans while adhering to safety and SOP standards. The role requires 1–3 years’ experience and certification in axial operations and related safety procedures.

You will receive daily work instructions, perform drilling and anchoring tasks, and ensure proper maintenance and safe machine operation in a challenging mining environment.

Qualifications

• Competent in confined spaces and mining safety procedures.
• Requires Drill/Axess rig operating familiarity and safety discipline.
• Includes RFAC and HTS certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from the supervisor.
• Operate Axess rig efficiently to meet quality targets.
• Ensure tramming of machinery adheres to standards.
• Drill vertical and horizontal face and support holes with correct drill steel length.
• Assist with drill steel extension and removal as needed.
• Drill holes and install long anchors per mine standards.
• Maintain safety standards and proper equipment operation.
• Conduct basic pre-shift equipment checks via checklist.
• Follow traffic management procedures and know fire suppression basics.
• Report safety concerns and equipment breakdowns promptly.
