Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Turbine Engine Performance Analyst for a contract role near Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will optimize engine efficiency, predict maintenance needs, and provide insights to engineering and maintenance teams.

You will analyze real-time engine data using MATLAB, Python, or R, develop predictive models, and deliver detailed performance reports to improve fleet reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 4 years in turbine engine performance analysis, diagnostics, or monitoring.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or R and statistical methods.
• Familiarity with turbofan and turboprop engine performance characteristics.
• Experience with aviation maintenance databases and data acquisition systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze real-time performance data from turbine engines using specialized software.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and performance degradations in engine parameters (EGT, N1/N2, fuel flow, vibration).
• Develop and refine algorithms to predict engine health, remaining useful life, and failure modes.
• Generate comprehensive performance reports for management, engineering and maintenance.
• Collaborate with maintenance crews to troubleshoot engine issues and validate findings.
• Recommend operating procedures and maintenance schedules to optimize efficiency and lifespan.
• Stay current with engine technology and performance analysis techniques.
• Contribute to development/improvement of data acquisition and analysis tools.
• Maintain accurate records of engine performance data and results.
• Assist in root cause analysis for engine performance events.
