Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a reputable mental health clinic in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa, in recruiting a Clinical Psychologist with trauma specialization. The role involves assessments, treatment planning, and delivering evidence-based therapies to trauma survivors within a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct trauma assessments, provide individual and group therapy, and contribute to crisis intervention and outreach initiatives, ensuring ethical practice and client well-being.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Completion of supervised internships and practica.
• Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA.
• Minimum of 3 years post-doctoral experience in clinical psychology with trauma focus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive trauma-related psychological assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based modalities (EMDR, CPT, PE, CBT).
• Provide individual and group therapy focused on trauma recovery.
• Offer crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and social workers for holistic care.
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records in line with ethical standards.
• Participate in case consultations and clinical team meetings.
• Stay updated with trauma psychology research and developments.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and families.
• Contribute to outreach programs and community mental health initiatives.
