An exciting career opportunity currently exists for a Training & Support Engineer – based at our Head Office in Centurion, South Africa. The successful candidate will report to the Operations & Logistics Manager.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Training & Support Engineer is responsible for delivering a completed and fully commissioned machine control and/or site positioning solution to the client. This includes site establishment, 3D design and modelling, machine measure up, commissioning, accuracy within specifications, operator training, surveyor training, workflow integration and after sales support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Product Implementation: Manage all field implementation to deliver products/solutions to customers' satisfaction; ensure final product is sufficiently tested and signed off by the customer; coordinate with internal teams for successful implementations.
  • Field Support: Resolve reported product/solution issues via diagnostic procedures; provide optimal customer support through field visits or e‑communication; log issues and provide timely reports; build supportive customer relationships.
  • Technical Support: Similar to field support with emphasis on technical troubleshooting; support pre‑sales and internal staff.
  • Product Training: Expand product knowledge; prepare training material after needs analysis; present technical training as certified Trimble trainer.
  • Quality Control: Ensure quality control of all products/solutions supplied to customers.
  • General Administration: Compile contractor packs and keep records of training completed.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Degree/Diploma in surveying or relevant engineering/technical fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on construction sites.
  • Experience in the Geospatial industry is an advantage.
  • Sound understanding and experience in road construction and design.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Centre & 3rd party design software (e.g., Model Maker, Road Maker).
  • Experienced user of Trimble survey/site positioning systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, test and service technical equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & non‑verbal) to provide technical help.
  • Understanding of construction industry applications, solutions and customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of solutions implementation and service level support best practices.
  • Conceptual ability to analyse, interpret, and offer customised solutions.
  • Problem‑solving ability.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively internationally (mainly within Africa) and be away from home regularly.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job and operational requirements.
