Job summary

HENSOLDT South Africa is seeking a hands-on assembler to integrate opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems and to perform alignment and basic functional tests.

You will read manufacturing drawings, prepare kits, and support quality control through burn-in, leak tests, and packing of subassemblies. A Matric with technical training and basic computer literacy are required, with training provided on site.

Qualifications

• Must have Matric with technical training.
• Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
• Basic Computer Literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and inspect kits for assembly.
• Build subassemblies and assemblies per work order and documentation.
• Follow burn-in, vacuum baking, leak test and purge processes as prescribed.
• Sign off work orders and prepare for processing.
• Adhere to company policies and disciplinary code.

Purpose the Role

To integrate opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems and non-specialised final systems, as well as alignment and basic functional tests of these systems.

Qualification :

• Matric. Informal training (Technical High School).

Key responsibilities:

• Staff must have a natural aptitude to work with their hands.
• Excellent hand eye co-ordination.
• Some optical theory knowledge preferred.
• Technical Drawing/ ability to read manufacturing drawings
• Basic Computer Literacy.
• Trained in Product Assembly or have the ability to be trained in this aspect.
• Trained in ESD trained or have the ability to be trained in this aspect.
• Trained in Optics Handling trained or have the ability to be trained in this aspect.
• Cross training in different products to be done or have been done.

Key performance areas:

Preparation of kits

• Receive and inspect kits for completeness
• Take action on any deviation
• Clean and prepare parts for assembly

Assembly and integration

• Ensure the correct level of quality of workmanship.
• Building of subassemblies and assemblies according to work order and assembly documentation.
• Follow processes of Burn-in, vacuum baking, leak test, purging ... as prescribed.
• Complete BHD as required.

Inspection, alignment and testing

• First level alignment of subassembly.
• Elementary functional test of assemblies according to requirements documentation.
• Presentation to Quality Control for acceptance.
• Packing of subassemblies.
• Signing off WO’s and BHD’s, hand in for processing.

General

• Adhere to company policies and disciplinary code
• Execute any reasonable task given by his/her direct
