Job summary

BHBW SA (Pty) Ltd is offering an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering in the Free State region. The selected candidate will learn under qualified mentors, complete both theoretical and practical training, and prepare for the trade test.

Minimum N3 in mechanical fields, relevant subjects including Engineering Drawing, Mathematics and Engineering Science, plus a valid driver’s license, are required. The programme emphasises safety, discipline, and achieving KPIs during the learning period.

Qualifications

• N3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with Engineering Drawing, Mathematics and Engineering Science.
• Mathematics and Engineering Science are required subjects.
• Motor or Diesel Trade Theory knowledge is required.
• Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete apprentice level module outcomes and theoretical learning.
• Finish all practical training and skills assessments.
• Apply skills learnt in the workplace.
• Maintain and update the Apprentice Training Logbook and its activity completion.
• Achieve first-time success on the level test and, finally, complete the Trade Test.
• Follow manager/mentor guidance and meet workplace objectives and KPIs.
• Maintain a safe working environment according to safety policies.

Purpose of the Role

Learning and practising the applicable trade under the guidance of skilled or qualified persons, to gather sufficient practical experience.

• Successful completion of Apprentice level module outcomes and all theoretical learning
• Successfully complete all practical training and skills assessments
• Apply skills learnt in the workplace
• Update Apprentice Training Logbook Completion
• Update Apprentice Training Logbook Activity Completion
• Successful First Attempt of Level Test
• Successful completion of Trade Test at the end of Apprenticeship
• Meeting the objectives and requirements of the workplace as advised by manager/ mentor
• Maintain a safe working environment (according to safety policy and procedures)

Qualification, Experience and Competencies
