Job summary

Gold Fields’ South Deep Gold Mine invites applications for a Trackless Crew Leader. This role leads a production team to deliver the monthly plan, maintains a safe workplace, and ensures quality output in line with operational standards at the site in Westonaria.

A strong emphasis on safety leadership and team development is required. Minimum qualifications include Grade 12, a Blasting Certificate, and TM3 certificates, with well-founded knowledge of Mine Health & Safety legislation.

Qualifications

• Must have deep level trackless mining experience and TM3 equipment certificates.
• Valid Blasting Certificate required and compliance with Mine Health & Safety Act.
• Excellent English communication and leadership abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a safe working environment with minimal health and safety risks.
• Ensure compliance with Mines Health & Safety Act and related safety standards.
• Accurate and timely reporting of safety and production matters.
• Develop and promote team effectiveness within the department.
• Meet continuous production targets and maintain discipline in the section.
• Ensure equipment availability and proper utilization of materials.
• Control explosives and ensure accurate planning and budgeting.

POSITION: Trackless Crew Leader

JOB GRADING: C – Lower

DEPARTMENT: Mining

SITE: South Deep Gold Mine

The Trackless Crew Leader is accountable for executing the safe and efficient delivery of assigned monthly production plan, leading operational teams to achieve prescribed safely goals and ensuring quality delivery according to operational standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Recognized Blasting Certificate
• At least 5 years’ production experience in a deep level trackless mine with relevant TM3 equipment/machinery certificates
• Sound working knowledge of relevant Mine Health & Safety legislation
• Secure full Gold Fields Security and Related Occupational Screening
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Providing and maintaining a safe environment with minimum risk to the health and safety of the crew
• Ensuring compliance to the Mines Health & Safety Act and related operational safety standards
• Accurate and timeous reporting of all relevant safety and production matters
• Promoting and developing team effectiveness within the department
• Ensuring that all relevant production targets are met continuously
• Taking accountability for proper discipline in the section
• Ensuring effective availability and utilization of equipment and materials
• Ensuring control of explosives and that planning and budget is controlled and applied correctly
