Job summary

Greys Recruitment seeks a qualified Toolmaker for an established plastics manufacturer in South Africa. You will perform routine mould maintenance, inspect surfaces and manage repairs to ensure high-quality production and minimal downtime.

You will also investigate faults, improve procedures, maintain tool records in SAP and mentor apprentices, while upholding safety and environmental standards in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) required.
• At least 3 years' post-trade experience in plant maintenance in manufacturing.
• Practical knowledge of plastic manufacturing and mould maintenance.
• Proficient with hand tools and machining equipment; basic electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mould maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Inspect, clean and maintain mould surfaces to support consistent product quality.
• Carry out mould repairs and attend to tooling-related breakdowns in workshop and production areas.
• Investigate recurring faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and improve maintenance procedures to minimise downtime and support start-ups.
• Maintain accurate tooling maintenance records and update work orders on SAP.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to toolmaking apprentices.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with company standards.
• Comply with quality, food safety, environmental, health and safety requirements.
