Job summary

Placements24 in East London is seeking a compassionate Toddler Group Leader to manage a small group of toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years. You will plan age-appropriate activities and support social-emotional growth in a safe, nurturing environment.

You will document progress, communicate with parents, and ensure daily routines including feeding, napping, diapering and hygiene are carried out with warmth and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or equivalent childcare qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience working specifically with toddlers.
  • In-depth knowledge of toddler development stages and appropriate practices.
  • Excellent observational skills and the ability to document effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and engaging personality.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily activities for toddlers' development.
  • Supervise a small group ensuring safety at all times.
  • Foster a nurturing and responsive environment, building secure attachments with each child.
  • Manage feeding, napping, diapering and hygiene routines.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a compassionate and experienced Toddler Group Leader to manage and nurture a small group of toddlers at their facility in East London . This role focuses on creating a safe, stimulating, and loving environment that supports the unique developmental needs of children aged 18 months to 3 years. You will be responsible for planning age-appropriate activities, fostering social-emotional growth, and building positive relationships with both children and their families. This is a key position within the Eastern Cape team, dedicated to providing exceptional care and early learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement daily activities that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of toddlers.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of a small group of toddlers at all times.
  • Foster a nurturing and responsive environment, building secure attachments with each child.
  • Manage daily routines, including feeding, napping, diapering/toileting, and hygiene.
  • Observe and document individual children's progress, interests, and needs.
  • Communicate effectively and collaboratively with parents, sharing insights into their child's day and development.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or equivalent childcare qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience working specifically with toddlers.
