Job summary

Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking an Early Years Educator specializing in toddler care (ages 1-3). This on-site role focuses on safe, play-based learning experiences that support early development and parent partnerships.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or a related field (e.g., NQF Level 4/5).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working specifically with toddlers in an ECD setting.
• Strong knowledge of toddler development, including cognitive, social-emotional, and physical milestones.
• Passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to the well-being of young children.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
• Ability to plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Patience, warmth, and a nurturing approach to childcare.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required.
• Understanding of child protection policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and education for toddlers (ages 1-3 years) in a group setting.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Create a safe, clean, and stimulating environment conducive to exploration and learning.
• Manage daily routines, including feeding, napping, diapering/toileting, and hygiene practices.
• Foster positive social interactions and guide children in developing self-help skills.
• Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones.
• Communicate effectively and build positive relationships with parents/guardians regarding their child's development and daily experiences.
• Ensure the health and safety of all children under your care at all times.
• Collaborate with other educators and staff to maintain a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom space.
