Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Childcare Assistant to support a toddler program in Tembisa. You will assist the lead practitioner, help ensure safety and well-being, and contribute to a nurturing environment for young children.

You will directly care for toddlers, facilitate play and activities, and support overall development through hands-on engagement and collaborative teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in childcare, preferably with toddlers.
• Understanding of basic child development and safety procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift and carry young children and participate in active play.
• Compassionate and patient disposition.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities for toddlers.
• Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety indoors and outdoors.
• Support with feeding, napping, and hygiene routines for toddlers.
• Engage children in play, songs, and activities to promote development.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with lead teachers regarding children's progress and concerns.
