Implats in Rustenburg seeks an experienced TM3 Roofbolter Operator for underground operations. You will operate a mobile mechanized roof bolter, drill and install roof bolts as per the drill plan while adhering to safety SOPs.

Requirements include Grade 12, a Roofbolter Competency Certificate, and 1-3 years’ TM3 experience. The role emphasizes safe operation, strict procedure adherence, and precise shift handovers in an underground setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate a mobile mechanized roof bolter underground and drill and install roof bolts according to the drill plan and SOPs.
• Obtain daily work instructions from Shift/Team Supervisor and plan tasks and resources.
• Ensure understanding of roofbolting plan and communicate equipment and consumables needs.
• Report operational problems promptly even outside own area.
• Position safety jacks and install bolts; test bolt tension as required.
• Record roofbolt information on the on-board computer and monitor consumables.

Job description

Operate a mobile mechanized roof bolter underground and drill and install roof bolts according to the drill plan adhering to standard operating procedures and required mining and safety standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure safe, efficient and proper use of all machinery, equipment and infrastructure to ensure health and safety requirements.
• Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from Shift/Team Supervisor and prepares and plans work priority lists and resource requirements in order to complete tasks.
• Ensure accurate understanding of the roofbolting plan and sequence and ensure that all equipment and consumable requirements are communicated to Shift/Team Supervisor to complete allocated work tasks.
• Ensure that any operational problem that is encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility.
• Position safety jacks to support underground mine roofs until bolts can be installed.
• Operate the Roofbolt according to required standards to drill bolt holes into roofs at specified distances from ribs or adjacent bolts and test bolts for specified tension.
• Continuously report and capture all required roofbolt information on the on-board computer.
• Continuously ensure that required roofbolt consumables are in place and that water and diesel requirements are met as per safe standard operating procedures.
• Provide information during shift handovers if needed to ensure the synchronized functionality of operations.
• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary
• Grade 12 /STD 10 or NQF 4 is essential.
• Roofbolter Competency Certificate is essential.
